Qaraoun Lake

About this activity

It’s a man-made lake that settles in the West Bqaa area. Spacious lake which adds beauty to the region, with mountains behind it, you feel as if you’re looking at an artistic painting far away from reality. It was done in 1959 by building the highest dam in Lebanon till this day for multiple purposes like irrigation of the near fields especially Beqaa Valley and for domestic water usage.
Swimming and fishing are not allowed in it however, you can enjoy a boat ride or eat in one of the restaurants there with a view of the wonderful lake. Unfortunately, the lake and surrounding area need much more attention from the municipality to be cleaner and an attraction to visitors and tourists.
