Also Called the Lion Tower, it’s a small fortress located at the end of the Tripoli harbor. The tower was named after the relief decorations depicting lions that used to line the façade. The structure dates back to the end of the fifteenth century and is attributed to Mamluke Sultan Seifeddine Barsbay. The tower is considered an exceptional example of military Mameluke architecture. The entrance door is made of black and white stones where Ancient Roman columns were laid horizontally to support the tower’s wall. Many cravings and paintings can be seen inside.
